Is there really money to be made in affiliate marketing?

Do real people actually make good money in affiliate marketing? There are two main reasons people ask this question, in my experience: 1) Anything associated with making money on the Internet is often thought to be a scam. 2) The economy stinks. Reason #1 Let's talk about this. It's true there are thousands of scammers out there, and they've given Internet/affiliate marketing a bad name. Yes, some of the scammers are making big money, but what goes around comes around, so don't worry about them. They'll get theirs eventually. The positive news is that thousands of non-scammers are also making good money. Affiliate marketing is a totally legitimate way to make a living. Anytime you've referred a friend or relative to a certain restaurant or gift shop or car dealer, you've acted as an affiliate. The only problem is you most likely didn't get paid for it! You do get paid for making these referrals on the Internet. Some marketers are making hundreds and hundreds of dollars a day doing this. Is it easy? Well, it's not easy in the sense that you don't have to work for it. You do. But it's a simple concept that's not difficult to learn. Reason #2 Yes, we're in a recession. People are trying to hang on to what little money they have. But that is actually good news for Internet marketers. Where are increasing numbers of people turning to buy the things they need or want? The Internet! No doubt the poor economy has affected some affiliate marketers negatively, but in contrast, many are posting record earnings. For the most part, you shouldn't feel that the field is not worth getting into because the economy is bad. The Internet is the best place to do business in such a situation. Especially since you can reach people around the world, many of whom are enjoying better economic conditions than we are. If you get some training, work hard at it, and be patient, yes, you CAN make excellent money in affiliate marketing!
